Tio Pedro, as he is affectionately known, is a living legend in the mezcal community, with a dedicated following that speaks to his mastery of the craft.

The wild agave Tobasiche (Agave Karwinskii) serves as the star ingredient in this mezcal. Sometimes referred to as Cuixe or Largo in various regional dialects, Tobasiche shares its botanical lineage with agave varieties like Cuixe, Madrecuixe, and Barríl. What sets Tobasiche apart is its distinctive growth pattern: its leaves often sprout from the middle of the piña (agave heart), leaving a tall, stalk-like base.
