Launched in 2021, Compass Box Orchard House is a vibrant addition to the Compass Box core range. This blend is crafted from a majority of whisky purchased as new make spirit by Compass Box, then matured in a variety of casks. The blend comprises Highland malt matured in custom French oak barrels (2%), a malt from near Aberlour matured in Oloroso sherry-seasoned butts (8%), and several malts matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, including Linkwood (39%), Clynelish (29%), Benrinnes (20%), and Caol Ila (2%). Bottled at 46%, non-chillfiltered, and naturally colored, Orchard House showcases a complex yet approachable profile.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Light golden amber.

Nose: A bouquet of orchard fruits—apple, pear, and peach—mingled with notes of black cherry, pineapple, and citrus zest. The nose is rounded out with vanilla, toasted desiccated coconut, sweet biscuity notes, and subtle hints of cinnamon and Earl Grey tea.

Palate: The initial impression is reminiscent of a hearty breakfast, with flavors of apple juice, muesli, banana, and honey. Wild strawberry adds a layer of complexity, while an oily texture carries subtle peat, sultana, and vanilla. The palate evolves into a creamy blend infused with notes of hay and meadowsweet.
