Benromach Peat Smoke 2009 Scotch Single Malt Whiskey

$68.99 USD

Benromach Peat Smoke 2009 is a true representation of the Benromach Distillery's commitment to crafting genuine Speyside single malts with a touch of traditional smokiness. The distillery's storied history dates back to 1898, and it embodies the essence of Speyside whisky-making in a unique way. Before the 1960s, Speyside distilleries would turn to local peat to fire their kilns when coal supplies ran low. This practice resulted in a well-balanced single malt with a subtle underpinning of smoke—a tradition that began to wane with the advent of commercial maltings. However, when Gordon & Macphail acquired the distillery in 1993, they made it their mission to revive this traditional style. Today, they uphold this commitment by using Chapeltown Springs water from the Romach Hills, located just two miles from the distillery, and benefit from the expertise of three master distillers. The whisky matures in first-fill sherry casks from William and Humbert in Spain and new oak casks from Antonio Paez Lobato. The Benromach lineup is further enriched by the remarkable private collection of beautifully aged single malts from the Urquharts of Elgin family, ensuring that the brand remains diverse and dedicated to handcrafted production.
