Benromach Single Malt Scotch Sassicaia Barrel 2012 Whiskey

Benromach Sassicaia 2012 is a testament to the time-honored craft and unique approach of the Benromach Distillery in producing authentic Speyside single malts. Established in 1898, the distillery's rich history reflects a traditional Speyside style that was prevalent prior to the 1960s. During this era, Speyside distilleries would turn to local peat when coal supplies were low, infusing their whisky with a balanced profile and a hint of smokiness. However, the commercialization of malting processes led to the decline of this tradition. When Gordon & Macphail acquired the distillery in 1993, they set out to resurrect this traditional style, a commitment that continues to this day. Key to this endeavor is the use of pristine Chapeltown Springs water from the Romach Hills, located just two miles from the distillery, as well as the expertise of three master distillers. Maturation takes place in first-fill sherry casks from William and Humbert in Spain and new oak casks from Antonio Paez Lobato. The diversity and handcrafted nature of the Benromach range are further enriched by the remarkable private collection of beautifully aged single malts from the Urquharts of Elgin family.
