Glen Scotia Cmpbltn Festival Single Malt Scotch 10 Year Whiskey

$90.99 USD

Size

Glen Scotia Campbeltown Festival 10-Year-Old Scotch is a remarkable tribute to the rich heritage of whisky production in the Campbeltown peninsula, which boasts a legacy dating back to 1636. This limited edition release from Glen Scotia pays homage to the historical roots of whisky making in this distinct region. With easy access to local barley, abundant peat for drying malted barley, and a pristine water source, Campbeltown evolved into a hotbed of illicit whisky production during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The presence of the Armour family, skilled plumbers and coppersmiths, further fueled the clandestine distillation activities. Robert Armour's coppersmith business, established in 1811, discreetly facilitated the crafting of small illicit stills for the production of Aqua Vitae.

Glen Scotia's commitment to its history and legacy is evident in this unique release, reflecting the deep-seated tradition of whisky-making in the region. Campbeltown, also known as Lochhead in the past, is an exceptional place that has earned its distinction as a separate whisky region alongside Highland, Speyside, Lowland, and Islay. With a bountiful water supply, easy access to peat and grains, and a thriving market in Victorian Britain and beyond, Campbeltown once boasted 28 distilleries by 1851, proudly declaring itself as the "whisky capital of the world." Today, only three distilleries remain, and Glen Scotia stands as one of Scotland's most distinguished and cherished producers of fine whisky.
