Benromach Organic 2011 Scotch Single Malt Whiskey

Benromach Organic 2011 is a testament to the distinctive character and traditional craftsmanship of the Benromach Distillery, a producer of authentic Speyside single malts since 1898. The whisky reflects a time-honored tradition that prevailed in Speyside before the 1960s, where distilleries used local peat to fire their kilns when coal was in short supply. This practice imbued the resulting single malt with a harmonious blend of flavors, including a subtle touch of smoke. Unfortunately, the advent of commercial maltings led to the decline of this tradition. When Gordon & Macphail acquired the distillery in 1993, they made it their mission to rekindle this traditional style, a commitment that remains to this day. Key to this endeavor is the use of pristine Chapeltown Springs water from the Romach Hills, located a mere two miles from the distillery. The expertise of three master distillers ensures that the spirit maintains its unique character. Maturation takes place in first-fill sherry casks from William and Humbert in Spain and new oak casks from Antonio Paez Lobato. In addition to these exceptional practices, the remarkable private collection of aged single malts from the Urquharts of Elgin family contributes to the diversity and handcrafted nature of the Benromach range.
