Garrison Brothers Single Barrel Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey

This is Texas bourbon from the Hill Country, distilled by Garrison Brothers from a mash bill of corn, wheat and malted barley and matured for at least four years in new charred American oak. The wheat matters. Instead of the peppery bite a rye recipe brings, you get a soft sweetness under the caramel, toasted oak, vanilla and cinnamon on the palate, with oak and spice lingering on the finish. It pours deep amber with copper highlights, and the nose leads with toasted oak and caramel before warm baking spice comes through. As a single barrel bottling, it suits the drinker who wants to taste one barrel of Texas bourbon on its own terms, and it is gentle enough for someone just getting into wheated styles.
