Tullibardine Scotch Whisky 12-Year-Old is a testament to the legacy of one of Scotland's oldest brewers and distillers. Nestled in the historic town of Blackford, known as the gateway to the Highlands, Tullibardine carries a rich heritage dating back centuries. The story of this distillery is intertwined with Scottish royalty, the origins of beer production, and the allure of the Highlands.

The historical significance of Tullibardine is well-documented. In 1488, during a pivotal moment in history, the young King James 4th of Scotland paused his journey to his coronation to make a notable purchase. He bought beer from the local brewery at Tullibardine, marking the recorded debut of a public beer purchase. In 1503, the brewery received the first Royal Charter ever issued by King James 4th. This charter bestowed royal recognition upon the brewery for producing exceptionally fine beer.

While Tullibardine's location is a key asset, the most vital element of the distillery is the abundant supply of fresh spring water sourced from the surrounding Ochil Hills. These hills, formed over 400 million years ago with layers of basalt and red sandstone, are renowned for the gold that was historically mined from them. The pristine water reaching the Tullibardine distillery has undergone a remarkable 15-year natural filtration process as it journeyed to the Danny Burn spring, the very source from which Tullibardine draws its water. This water is the same source bottled by the renowned mineral water company, Highland Spring.

In 1947, a pivotal transformation was initiated by William Delme Evans, who began converting the original brewery buildings into a fully-fledged distillery. Two years later, in 1949, the inaugural spirit was distilled at the newly named Tullibardine Distillery. The name "Tullibardine" is derived from Gaelic and translates to "lookout hill," a reference to a small medieval chapel constructed in 1446, which remains in close proximity to the distillery grounds.

In November 2011, Tullibardine embarked on a new chapter when the distillery was acquired by an independent family company already deeply involved in the whisky industry. This transition ensured the secure and promising future of Tullibardine, preserving its tradition of excellence and craft.
