Crown Royal XO is a premium blended Canadian whisky finished in Cognac casks — the expression that sits near the top of the Crown Royal range and represents the house's most ambitious finishing experiment. Blended in Gimli, Manitoba, from a selection of 50 whiskies drawn from Crown Royal's renowned reserve, XO layers the brand's signature smooth Canadian whisky base with the richer, fruitier character that French Cognac wood imparts during finishing.

The Cognac-cask influence reads clearly in the glass. On the nose, expect vanilla, dried apricot, light oak, and a soft floral lift from the French oak. The palate delivers honey, baked apple, candied orange peel, and a layer of soft Cognac-derived fruit that carries into a long, warm, mellow finish. It is silkier and more dessert-like than standard Deluxe, with noticeably more complexity — a true sipping whisky rather than a mixing pour. Served neat or over a single cube, it sits comfortably alongside a premium Cognac or long-aged Scotch.
