Arak Brun 5 Year Special Reserve
Arak Brun 5 Year Special Reserve comes from Domaine des Tourelles, founded in 1868 by François-Eugène Brun in Chtaura, in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley. The estate distills this arak from its own Obeidi and Cinsault grapes and, since 2015, its own anise grown in Deir el Ahmar, carrying forward a family tradition that runs through five generations at the same address.
The spirit is triple-distilled in traditional alembics inside a hundred-year-old cellar, then rested for five years in old clay jars, a slower path than most arak takes to market. Crystal clear in the glass, it louches to a soft white cloud when water is added, opening on pronounced fresh anise and licorice with subtle herbal and citrus undertones. On the palate the anise stays bold but is rounded by sweet grape character built up over its years in clay, finishing long, clean, and warming. It is unsweetened, organic, and vegan.
A well-aged, estate-made arak like this is an easy conversation piece for anyone building out a Mediterranean or anise-spirit shelf, and pairs naturally alongside Liquor Geeks' other imported aperitifs and after-dinner spirits. Imported by VOS Selections, it's a fitting gift for collectors who already know pastis, ouzo, or raki and are ready to go a step further. Ships to most US states.
