Château Angélus Hommage à Élisabeth Bouchet 2018, a rare pure Cabernet Franc cuvée from Angélus.
Hommage à Élisabeth Bouchet is 100% Cabernet Franc, or Bouchet as the variety is known on the Right Bank, from the oldest vines at Angélus. They average 60 to 80 years old and grow in thin, broken limestone over blue clay at the foot of the slope. The cuvée honours the great-grandmother of co-owner Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal and is made only in exceptional years. The sunny 2018, which also began the estate's conversion to organic farming, was only its second release, with just 849 bottles made. Jeb Dunnuck (100 points) calls it "as fine a Saint-Emilion as has ever been made," with cassis, truffle, spring flowers and ultra-fine tannins. He advises at least a decade of cellaring and expects 40 to 50 years of life. 14.0% ABV, 750ml.
