Lot 40 Canadian Rye Whisky Dark Oak is an audacious and robust interpretation of the classic Lot 40 rye whisky. True to its heritage, it's crafted from 100% rye grain, distilled in a pot still, and aged in new American Oak barrels. What sets Dark Oak apart is its unique finishing process: after its initial maturation, it undergoes a second round of aging in heavily charred new oak barrels. This double-barrel maturation imparts an even deeper infusion of flavors and hues from the wood, resulting in a rye whisky that's rich, intense, and remarkable. Bottled at a potent 48% ABV, Lot 40 Dark Oak is a powerhouse of Canadian rye.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Lot 40 Dark Oak presents an enticing aroma with layers of toasted oak and rich vanilla. Hints of caramel and baking spices emerge, alongside the unmistakable earthy rye essence.
Palate: The first sip is an explosion of bold flavors. The rye spices are intense, dancing harmoniously with notes of charred oak, toffee, and dark chocolate. The double-barrel aging process has intensified the rye's peppery character, while the charred oak lends depth and complexity.
Finish: The finish is long and robust, leaving a warm and lingering sensation. Oak tannins, pepper, and a subtle sweetness interplay, creating a satisfying, full-bodied conclusion. Dark Oak's finish is a testament to its boldness and the influence of the charred oak barrels.
