Del Maguey Mezcal Single Village Madrecuixe San Luis Del Rio is a single-agave mezcal from the village of San Luis del Río in Oaxaca, Mexico. It is made from wild Madrecuixe (Agave karwinskii), a maguey that takes 10 to 15 years to mature, by mezcaleros Marcos Cruz Mendez and Paciano Cruz Nolasco. Part of Del Maguey's Single Village series, it is bottled at 47% ABV (94 proof).
The nose opens with banana leaf, green papaya and fresh-cut bamboo. On the palate those green notes give way to ripe mango and pineapple, and the finish is long, dry and clean.
