SuTi Rising Phoenix Rice Whisky comes from SuTi Craft Distillery in Kennedale, Texas, a producer built around rice as its base grain rather than the corn or rye typical of American whiskey. The expression earned the American Distilling Institute's 2025 "Best New American Spirit" award along with an ADI Gold Medal, recognition that marks it out as the distillery's flagship release. A cask-strength edition followed in 2026, but this bottling is the standard 90-proof release the brand built its reputation on.
The rice base gives this whisky a fuller, spicier profile than lighter rice-forward styles, opening on an amber pour with toasted oak, caramel, and warm grain on the nose alongside a touch of baking spice. On the palate, caramel and oak carry through with a gentle building heat, leading into a long, warm finish that stays rooted in oak. It's a whisky built for sipping, with enough structure to hold up neat or over ice.
