Release No. 10 from The Last Drop Distillers is a remarkable 50-year-old Blended Scotch Whisky, aged to perfection in a unique journey of maturation. Initially aged in traditional oak casks, this whisky experienced a transformation when it was transferred into a cask previously used to mature an "overproof" Jamaican Rum. Over 18 months in this rum-saturated barrel, the whisky developed an additional layer of complexity and strength, resulting in a multi-faceted and supremely sophisticated spirit. This extraordinary blend showcases The Last Drop's commitment to exploring innovative aging processes and delivering exceptional, unique experiences to whisky enthusiasts.

Tasting Notes

Nose: The nose is vibrant and enticing, presenting high ester notes from the rum cask influence. This lively invitation is followed by rich fruitiness, featuring ripe bananas, mixed spices, and a touch of liquorice, creating a complex and aromatic profile.

Taste: On the palate, the whisky reveals the depth of its maturation journey. Rich and smooth sweet fruit flavors predominate, interwoven with the dark spiciness of black treacle, caramelized pineapple, cinnamon, and a hint of liquorice. Each sip allows you to explore the layers of flavor imparted by the four different periods of maturation, culminating in a deeply satisfying taste experience.

Finish: The finish is long and memorable, with the spicy influence of the oak lingering alongside the dark molasses rum notes. The supremely rounded mouthfeel reflects 50 years of maturation and adventure, leaving a lasting impression of this whisky's exceptional character and craftsmanship.
