Tropa Tequila Añejo Haas Edition

Tropa Tequila Añejo, the Haas Edition, is a 300-bottle release made with artist Nikolai Haas of the Haas Brothers, whose playful surrealism shapes its gold mushroom-form bottle. Each cap is hand-beaded, bead by bead, by South Africa's Haas Sisters, and a single cap takes days to finish, so beadwork colors and patterns vary from bottle to bottle. Inside is 100% Blue Weber agave tequila from Jalisco, made under NOM 1412 and CRT certified, with the same flash of functional mushrooms in distillation as the Tropa Reposado (the label reads Made with Mushrooms), aged longer in American oak and bottled at 40% ABV.

It pours a burnished amber with a rich, round, full body that moves slowly in the glass. The nose is a deep inhale of dark chocolate, roasted hazelnuts and buttery toffee grounded in oak. On the palate melted chocolate and hazelnut mingle with butterscotch, and charred oak has the last word on a long finish.

Only 300 bottles were made and the brand has said there will be no restocks, which makes this a true collector's piece for agave and art collectors alike.
