Yamato Small Batch Japanese Whisky

Yamato Small Batch Japanese Whisky is produced by Aiko Importers from surplus barrels sourced at one of the largest distilleries in Japan's Yamanashi Prefecture. The whisky is a blend of malted Scotch whisky and select Yamanashi grain distillate, aged three to eight years and finished in Mizunara oak casks. Bottled without chill filtration and with natural color, it is released as a US-exclusive expression, its label kanji, 大和, translating to "great harmony."

In the glass the whisky shows a bright copper hue, opening with a mild, near-neutral nose that gives way to oak, honey, and citrus. The palate turns silky and spiced, layering cinnamon, plum skin, and maple around a base of dried fig, before a moderate finish carries cocoa, nutmeg, and ginger into a lingering note of oak sweetness.
