El Ateo Reposado Tequila
El Ateo Reposado Tequila is produced at Plantaciones Tequilana (NOM 1635) in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, using 100% Tequilana Weber blue agave sourced from family-owned fields in Guanajuato. The agave is tahona-crushed — an ancient stone-wheel process that extracts juice while preserving fibrous texture and character — then double-distilled in stainless steel pot stills equipped with copper coils. The resulting blanco rests in previously used American white oak bourbon barrels, which lend measured wood influence without masking the agave's natural sweetness. El Ateo also produces a Blanco and an Añejo under the same NOM 1635 program.
The nose opens with warm oak and sweet cooked agave, underscored by vanilla and butterscotch. On the palate, baking spice, a quiet thread of brine, cinnamon, and dried fruit emerge in layers while the agave stays present from start to finish. The close is medium in length, gently warming, with lingering cinnamon spice and soft oak.
A considered gift for tequila enthusiasts drawn to highland production and transparent distillery provenance, El Ateo Reposado pairs naturally with the Blanco and the Añejo from the same program — both available on the Liquor Geeks tequila shelf for a side-by-side exploration of the lineup. Ships to most US states. Adult-signature required at delivery.
