The XO undergoes an additional twelve months of extra aging in an ex-barrel sourced from Château La Croix Younan in Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, a wine-cask finish noted directly on the label that sets this release apart from El Septimo's standard XO expression.
The color runs a deep amber, opening with a fragrant nose of vanilla layered with refined leather and a whisper of spice. On the palate, red berries and cream carry through with lingering gentle spice from the wine-cask influence, finishing on vanilla that sails into a prolonged, creamy sweetness alongside rich dark chocolate.
