Crafted by the Kaikyo Distillery in Hyogo Prefecture, Hatozaki Finest Japanese Whisky – Small Batch is a carefully composed vatting of 100% malt whiskies aged in a trio of premium cask types: ex-bourbon, sherry, and rare Japanese Mizunara oak. Honoring over a century of distilling tradition dating back to 1917, the Yonezawa family blends modern craftsmanship with heritage. This small batch release is uncolored and non-chill filtered, preserving its natural integrity and depth. The result is a refined yet approachable whisky that delivers a rich malt character, gentle complexity, and a whisper of smoke.

Hatozaki Small Batch Whisky is a beautifully crafted expression that bridges tradition and innovation. With its soft smoke, layered sweetness, and gentle oak complexity, it is a versatile dram perfect for both everyday sipping and thoughtful contemplation.

Tasting Notes

Appearance:
Pale gold with natural clarity and brightness.

Nose:
Inviting and balanced, with aromas of sweet cereal grain, toasted barley, dried apricots, and honeycomb. Hints of vanilla cream and a touch of gentle wood smoke linger in the background.

Palate:
Silky and expressive. Malty dried fruit (golden raisins, fig), biscuit sweetness, and subtle layers of oak spice from the bourbon and Mizunara casks. A light, elegant smokiness weaves through the palate, complemented by notes of wildflower honey, clove, and toasted nuts.

Finish:
Clean, soft, and lingering. Delicate traces of smoke, spiced malt, and honeyed oak create a smooth and satisfying fade.
