Lagavulin 11 Year Old Sweet Peat is a captivating new interpretation of Islay’s smoky soul. Aged exclusively in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks, this expression balances Lagavulin’s legendary peat intensity with an inviting sweetness drawn from the oak. Bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof), it offers both richness and approachability—making it a perfect bridge between classic peat lovers and those new to Islay malts. Crafted at the historic Lagavulin Distillery in Port Ellen, this whisky showcases the harmony of smoke, honeyed vanilla, and oak warmth, embodying a softer side of the island’s rugged spirit while preserving its unmistakable maritime depth.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Warm gold with glimmers of amber, reflecting its bourbon cask maturity.

Nose: Gentle waves of soft peat smoke and charred oak, intertwined with vanilla bean, honeycomb, and toasted marshmallow. A hint of sea air and citrus zest adds brightness.

Palate: Smooth and layered—mellow peat and caramel give way to sweet citrus, warm baking spices, and creamy oak. The bourbon influence lends a round sweetness that complements the traditional Islay smoke.

Finish: Long, refined, and gently smoky, fading into campfire embers, salted toffee, and light oak tannin, leaving a warming sweetness on the tongue.
