Michter's US1 Barrel Strength Rye Whiskey is an expression of quality and craftsmanship rooted in Michter's historic approach to American whiskey. Entered into barrels at a unique 103 proof—a lower proof than industry standards—this rye is meticulously crafted to achieve a richer, smoother, and fuller-bodied whiskey after aging. Produced in Louisville, Kentucky, and backed by a heritage reaching as far back as 1753, Michter’s maintains its dedication to quality at every stage of production, from careful selection of yeast and fermentation temperatures to specific barreling and maturation protocols. This hands-on approach yields a whiskey praised by critics and connoisseurs alike for its depth and complexity.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Inviting aromas of butterscotch and cinnamon rise first, complemented by a hint of dark cherries. A warm, spicy quality hints at the complexity within.

Palate: Rich and full-bodied with layers of toasty vanilla and caramel upfront, leading to a balanced interplay of spice, sweetness, and wood influence. The rye’s characteristic peppery edge is tempered by the smooth, rounded notes of toasted oak and subtle fruitiness.

Finish: Long and warming, with a lingering sweetness and gentle spice, the finish reveals hints of vanilla and dark caramel, leaving a pleasantly robust aftertaste.
