This is a Barbados rum built on double aging: it rests first in bourbon casks on the island, then crosses the Atlantic to southwest France for a second stretch in small Ferrand cognac casks. That journey shows in the glass. Roasted coconut, dried tropical fruit and cedar spice lead on the nose, followed by a smooth, layered palate of ripe banana, milk chocolate, creamy toffee, apricot and Demerara sugar, and a long finish of oak, pipe tobacco and crème brûlée. At 40% ABV it is approachable enough for someone stepping up from mixing rums into sipping rums, yet the cognac-cask influence gives collectors and brandy drinkers plenty to dig into. It is a natural bridge between the rum and cognac worlds, made from sugarcane molasses by Maison Ferrand.
