Ryujin Golden Dragon Mizunara Cask Japanese Whisky is part of Aiko Importers' Ryujin line, named for Ryujin, the dragon sea-deity of Japanese myth and legendary ancestor of the imperial line. This Golden Dragon Edition arrives in a 1-liter gold-glazed ceramic dragon decanter with an ingot-shaped stopper and relief work depicting Japanese cultural figures, presented in a gold clamshell display box. The whisky itself is finished for 12 months in Mizunara casks coopered from Hokkaido oak aged more than 200 years before use.
In the glass this whisky shows a warm gold color, with a nose that opens on fruit and florals alongside honey, orange peel, and a trace of light incense. The palate carries that same honey and orange peel character into notes of white chocolate and soft Mizunara spice, finishing mellow with a lingering hint of oak.
The gold ceramic dragon decanter makes this a standout for display as much as for drinking, suited to collectors of Japanese whisky and figural packaging alike.
