Ryujin Single Malt Mizunara Cask is a Japanese single malt whisky credited to Nirasaki Distillery in Yamanashi, finished in Mizunara oak casks for roughly twelve months. The bottle itself is part of the presentation: a glass vessel encased in an antique-gold metal filigree sleeve with a dragon relief and a dragon-ball stopper, with a red inner bottle marking this Mizunara Cask edition (the companion Bourbon Cask release uses blue).
The whisky pours a warm gold and opens with floral aromatics, soft vanilla, and sandalwood. On the palate, honeyed sweetness meets orange peel, white chocolate, and a note of pear, while the Mizunara oak asserts itself on the finish with mellow spice, white pepper, and the incense-like character the cask is known for.
