Smoke Wagon’s Malted Barley Straight Rye Whiskey is a fearless, full-throttle expression that showcases the edgy artistry behind Nevada H&C Distilling Co. Distilled from an unconventional mash bill of 51% rye and 49% malted barley, this cask strength rye is as intense as it is unique. The malted barley leads the charge with a rich, creamy sweetness before the rye delivers a bold, spicy punch.

A true rebel in the world of American rye, this whiskey doesn’t play it safe—it delivers flavor in waves, with a complexity and structure that will thrill fans of bold spirits and craft connoisseurs alike.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Sweet and grain-forward. Notes of caramel, cereal malt, and vanilla cream rise from the glass, followed by hints of toasted oak, cocoa nibs, and a subtle smoky edge.

Palate: Big and bold right out of the gate. The malted barley introduces a sweet and creamy foundation—think caramel sauce, toffee, and malted milk balls. Mid-palate brings in complex layers of grains, honeyed cereal, and a soft roastiness.

Finish: The rye finally takes over with a blast of cinnamon, cracked black pepper, and smoke, making for a fiery and lingering finish. The cask strength intensifies every note, leaving a lasting impression of spiced heat, burnt sugar, and charred oak.
