The Mermaid marks the inaugural release in Glen Scotia’s Icons of Campbeltown range, an exclusive series paying homage to the legendary heritage and coastal mystique of the Campbeltown region. Aged for 12 years and finished in rare ex-Palo Cortado sherry casks, this unpeated expression showcases Glen Scotia’s elegance and maritime soul. Named after the mythical sea creature said to dwell in the waters off the rugged Kintyre Peninsula, The Mermaid is a tribute to the sea’s enduring influence on the distillery’s spirit. Richly layered, delicately briny, and deeply evocative, this whisky is both a celebration of tradition and an exploration of refinement.

Tasting Notes

Aroma:
Bracing and vibrant, the nose opens with a fresh Atlantic sea breeze, mingled with bright citrus oils and coastal minerality. Toasted hazelnuts and a whisper of dried fruit add warm, nutty complexity, creating a harmonious interplay between maritime freshness and sherry cask richness.

Palate:
The first sip reveals a luxurious sweetness balanced by subtle saltiness. Salted caramel and candied walnuts glide smoothly over the tongue, followed by notes of polished oak and soft baking spices. A gentle maritime salinity—signature to Glen Scotia—grounds the dram with coastal authenticity.

Finish:
Long, warming, and elegant. Lingering impressions of salted caramel and oaken spice fade slowly, leaving behind a cleansing sea breeze sensation and a touch of nuttiness that beckons the next sip.
