The Ledaig Single Malt Scotch Sherry Cask Finish 18 Year Whisky, awarded The Whisky Exchange's 'Whisky of the Year' for 2023, is a masterclass in balance and complexity. Crafted by the Tobermory distillers on the Isle of Mull, this exquisite single malt delivers a smoky, sherried character layered with maritime influences. Its 18 years of maturation in oak, followed by a sherry cask finish, result in a robust yet elegant whisky with depth, intrigue, and a truly unforgettable profile.

Tasting Notes

Nose
Rich and inviting, the nose is a harmonious blend of sherried fruit sweetness and smoky complexity. Aromas of phenolic seaweed, dried chili flakes, and spicy black pepper are balanced by hints of honey, orange oil, and sweet oak, with a whisper of chocolate and tropical fruit adding depth.

Palate
The palate opens with a burst of powerful, sherried richness accompanied by herbal smokiness. Notes of orange peel and coffee meld seamlessly with a touch of sea salt and tobacco. White pepper and almond butter provide a textured, layered mouthfeel, while grassy peat and biscuit dough evoke a sense of coastal wilderness.

Finish
Long and satisfying, the finish is a crescendo of smoky phenols, toasted barley, and salty liquorice. A hint of sea spray lingers alongside a final flourish of rich sherry and subtle herbal complexity.
